Every fall more than 4.5 million students are new to school complete with new attitudes, hobbies, music and fashion. Many people do not realize just how different college students are today, long gone are the days of surviving on soup and pizza. Today's college students have money and they are not opposed to spending it.

More than half of students at four-year colleges have cars, two-thirds carry credit cards, and two-thirds have telephone calling cards, according to the spring 2004 Student Monitor.

With almost $200 billion in spending power per year, the college market demands attention and provides a unique opportunity for both public and private companies to capitalize on this market.

Purchasing Power: Currently college students have tremendous amount of disposable income. According to the National Center for Educational Statistics, more than 15 million US college and university students spend well over $200 billion annually.
